These are two different veterinary diagnostic instruments but somehow related to each other. Anoscope or also called proctoscope, helps in diagnosing the internal part of the anus and rectum. Some animals get rectum swollen, so through anoscopy veterinarians can diagnose the animal easily. It’s not a painful procedure. Sigmoidoscopes are used by veterinary experts to diagnose the sigmoid colon, which is the lower part of the large intestine close to the rectum and anus. Flexible sigmoidoscopy is less invasive and less painful, but slightly uncomfortable. Both procedures are non-surgical.
