It is an eye-diagnosing device used by general veterinary practitioners and veterinary ophthalmologists. It measures the increased intraocular pressure (IOP) of animals' eyes, which can cause glaucoma. Tonometry is not a painful diagnosis. Animal remains comfortable as veterinarians place a numbing drop in each eye before using a tonometer. It slightly touches the cornea of the sick animal and measures the pressure. Mostly, veterinarians use this instrument for high-risk breeds of dogs. Non-Contact Tonometer, Air Puff Tonometer, Schiotz Tonometer, pneumo tonometer, and Tono-Pen are some common types.
