The primary purpose of the certified veterinary technician is to support the veterinary team by assisting with preventive care, diagnostics, medical record data input, outpatient and inpatient treatments, anesthesia and surgical/dental procedures, discharges, client communication, and education. The Technician assists veterinarians to the fullest possible extent, allowing them to achieve greater efficiency by relieving them of technical and administrative work. Technicians maintain a high standard of patient care by communicating clearly with veterinarians, other hospital personnel, and clients to ensure that patients receive the necessary care.&nbsp;

The Technician is friendly and flexible in the face of varying expectations from clients and co-workers. The Technician quickly prioritizes, changes focus, multitasks, and thinks creatively, and must respond quickly and calmly to emergencies, leading others through necessary tasks.&nbsp;

Technicians strongly believe in the quality of care provided and communicate this sense of assurance to clients. Technicians understand veterinary services and recommendations, conveying the value of these services to clients while promoting a positive work environment and providing direction and motivation to coworkers.&nbsp;

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases.

Qualifications
