Keynote Speaker, Clinical Areas, and Theaters
Dr. Stijn Niessen, a veterinary internal medicine specialist and President of ECVIM, is the 2026 keynote speaker. He is known internationally for his work in internal medicine and veterinary education.
The clinical program, curated by Clinician’s Brief, covers internal medicine, pain management, behavior, dentistry, surgery, and emergency care. Sessions are spread across three clinical theaters named Midtown, Bronx, and VMANYC, so teams can split up and cover more ground.
Example titles include “Advanced Extraction Planning: Minimizing Trauma and Complications”, “Common Dental Pathology You’re Probably Missing”, and “Beyond the Spay and Gastropexy: Advances in Minimally Invasive Surgery.”
A business and practice operations theater focuses on leadership, staffing, and profitability, and a veterinary technician program offers dedicated education for technicians.
What’s the Hands-On Workshop About?
The show’s hands-on lab is a three-hour Euthanasia Techniques Workshop on Friday, October 30, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Led by Dr. Kathleen Cooney (DVM, CHPV, CPEV, DACAW), it covers CAETA’s 14 Essential Components of Companion Animal Euthanasia. Participants practice IV, IC, IH, IR, IP, and the intrathecal injection on lifelike feline models. They also work on client communication, recognizing complications, and memorialization. Each attendee receives a kit of essential supplies.
The workshop earns 3 CE credits, pending RACE approval. It is open to veterinarians, technicians, practice managers, and students. Capacity is capped at 36 seats, and the add-on fee is $249.
