Job Description

Veterinarian – Dentistry Focused

Based out of Tigard Animal Hospital | Serving Neighboring NVA Hospitals

Tigard Animal Hospital is seeking a dentistry‑focused veterinarian who is passionate about elevating the standard of veterinary dental care across multiple hospitals. This unique role is ideal for a doctor who truly loves dentistry and wants to have a broader clinical impact by supporting several neighboring NVA hospitals in a travel capacity, while being based out of Tigard Animal Hospital.

Since 2003, Tigard Animal Hospital has been a trusted provider of high‑quality care in our community. Our modern, well‑equipped facility serves as the ideal home base for a veterinarian looking to focus on advanced dentistry while collaborating with other NVA teams.

Why Tigard Animal Hospital?

  • Modern, Purpose‑Built Facility (Opened 2020):
6 exam rooms, dedicated dental and surgical suites, and a spacious treatment area designed to support high‑quality dental workflows.
  • Advanced Diagnostics & Equipment:
Digital dental radiology, in‑house lab, ultrasound, and digital radiography.
  • Progressive Culture:
Feline‑friendly certified, and practicing fear-free with strong support staff and a culture focused on patient comfort and clinical excellence.
  • NVA Network Support:
The opportunity to collaborate with neighboring NVA hospitals that value and invest in advanced dentistry.

About the Role

This position is heavily dentistry‑focused and designed for a veterinarian who enjoys:

  • Performing high‑quality dental procedures, including complex extractions
  • Educating and mentoring hospital teams to improve dental standards and confidence
  • Traveling to nearby NVA hospitals in the Portland Metro area to provide dentistry services and support
  • Helping practices elevate their dental programs and client education

You will work closely with each hospital’s leadership and support teams to deliver consistent, exceptional dental care while serving as a trusted dentistry resource across the region.

What We’re Looking For

  • DVM/VMD from an AVMA‑accredited institution
  • Active (or eligible) Oregon veterinary license
  • Strong interest and experience in veterinary dentistry
(Advanced dentistry experience and extractions preferred)
  • Ability to mentor other doctors in dentistry
  • Comfort with travel within the Portland Metro area to neighboring NVA hospitals
  • Excellent communication skills with both clients and hospital teams
  • Collaborative, professional, and clinically confident
  • Commitment to practicing high‑quality, ethical medicine

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver exceptional dentistry services for dogs and cats, including advanced dental procedures
  • Travel to neighboring NVA hospitals to provide dentistry coverage and mentorship support
  • Serve as a dentistry resource for doctors and staff, promoting best practices
  • Partner with our Mentor Doctor with Oregon State University Dentistry program
  • Build strong client relationships through education and personalized care
  • Help drive dental growth, efficiency, and quality across multiple hospitals
  • Participate in continued learning and professional development

Why This Role Stands Out

This is a rare opportunity for a veterinarian who wants to focus primarily on dentistry while enjoying variety, collaboration, and regional impact—without giving up a supportive home base. You’ll have the autonomy to practice dentistry at a high-level while being backed by strong hospital teams and the NVA network.
