Position Overview

Bay Area Veterinary Care is a privately veterinarian owned Urgent Care and Surgery Hospital. We are looking for great people to help us with our mission. If you are interested in joining a qualified collaborative team that is passionate about our patients, then you found the right place!

At Bay Area Veterinary Care, we’re doing things differently. As an independent, doctor-owned urgent care and surgical hospital, we prioritize medicine over quotas and elevated patient care over corporate bottom lines.

We’re expanding our team and looking for a passionate, collaborative Associate Veterinarian who thrives in a dynamic environment—without the burnout of traditional 24/7 ER shifts.

Why You’ll Love It Here:

  • True Practice Autonomy: No micro-management or rigid corporate protocols. Practice the medicine you were trained to do.

  • Collaborative Medical Team: Work alongside experienced, highly trained support staff who actually have your back in treatment and surgery.

  • Cutting-Edge Facility: Fully equipped for advanced outpatient diagnostics, emergency triage, and soft-tissue surgery.

  • Sustainable Scheduling: Enjoy predictability, dedicated time off, and an operational model built to protect your well-being.

If you’re ready to practice medicine in a supportive environment where your voice actually matters, we’d love to connect!

Responsibilities

About the Role
We are seeking a Licensed DVM or VMD with a commitment to excellent patient care to join our dynamic Urgent Care team. As a confident communicator and collaborative team member at BAVC, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, compassionate medicine while making a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors and their pets.

This position is ideal for a practitioner looking to work 3-4 days a week who is comfortable in an urgent care setting and thrives on the clinical variety it brings. We are looking for an individual who is motivated to learn, grow, and contribute as the practice expands with leadership positions/roles available. Compensation will be based on skill and experience.

Key Responsibilities & Clinical Scope

Diagnostic & Medical Excellence: Demonstrate high confidence in comprehensive diagnostic workups, case management, and targeted treatment plans for acute and urgent care presentations.

Surgical Competency: Confidently perform minor surgical procedures and laceration repairs. Emergency surgery experience is ideal but not required—we provide a supportive environment to help you expand your surgical comfort zone.

Effective Triage: Efficiently manage, stabilize, and treat outpatient urgent care cases, working hand-in-hand with a highly skilled nursing and support team.
Collaborative Medicine: Actively participate in rounds, collaborate on complex cases, and foster a positive, cohesive team culture.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) from an AVMA-accredited institution.
  • Current license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Florida (or eligible to secure licensure via examination or endorsement).
  • A strong foundation in general medicine, with the ability to maintain composure and clinical focus during high-volume shifts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on empathetic client education, clear staff communication and teamwork.
