Abstract:

Pet travel is increasingly showing up in veterinary practice, yet many veterinary teams are being asked to manage these cases without standardized training, consistent workflows, or confidence in key areas of travel preparation.  Using preliminary insights from the When Pets Fly Veterinary Pet Travel Education Interest Survey, this webinar will explore where pet travel preparation commonly breaks down, including how clinics handle travel appointments, the types of requests veterinary teams receive, and the areas where teams report the least confidence when advising clients.  Participants will learn why a health certificate does not automatically mean a pet is ready to travel and why veterinary teams need to be involved before the final paperwork appointment to achieve earlier, more informed, welfare-centered travel preparation. Veterinary Air-Travel Medicine and the When Pets Fly Pet Travel Readiness Assessment, will be introduced as an emerging approach that moves pet travel conversations beyond health certificate completion and toward safe, consistent, and welfare-centered pet travel case management.

Agenda:

  • Typical travel preparation requests
  • Least understood travel requirement
