Webinar Description:
Coxofemoral luxations occur frequently in dogs and cats. In most instances, reduction is preferable to salvage procedures such as femoral head and neck excision or total hip replacement. Closed reduction should be attempted and can yield acceptable clinical outcomes in the lion’s share of cases. Open reduction is associated with a high degree of success in appropriate cases. This lecture will offer perspective on non-surgical and surgical management of coxofemoral luxation.
Webinar Agenda:
- The diagnosis and management of traumatic coxofemoral luxations in dogs and cats
- Etiology and pathogenesis of traumatic coxofemoral luxation
- Expected physical examination findings
- Radiographic abnormalities
- Methods of closed reduction and possible coaptation
- Open surgical reduction and salvage procedures
