Description

Moist wound healing, the standard for wound care, creates an environment that allows the body’s cells
to function at their best and results in faster healing, lower infection rates, and increased comfort
compared to traditional techniques (say goodbye to wet-to-dry dressings!). Using clinical cases, we’ll
discuss how to select and use interactive moisture retentive dressings (e.g., calcium alginate, hydrophilic
foam, hydrocolloid, hydrogel) and topical agents (honey, electrolyzed saline, silver and zinc products, etal.) to best support the needs of the wound at that point in the healing process.

Agenda

  • Steps/phases of wound healing
  • Principles of moist wound healing
  • Selection and application of moisture retentive dressings
  • Indications and contraindications for common topical agents
